Ray Thorn

Ray Thorn specializes in leadership, influencing without alienating, communication, teamwork, conflict management, change management, and interpersonal effectiveness. He has worked with Amgen; ARCO; Arkema; Avery Dennison; CEMEX; Chevron; the Cities of Glendale, Long Beach, and Los Angeles; ExxonMobil; HOERBIGER; Hughes Aircraft Company; Jacobs Engineering; Mattel; Micro Electronics, Inc.; National Teleconsultants; Northrop Grumman; Pepsi-Cola; Raytheon; Roche Diagnostics; Rockwell; Sempra Energy; Silicon Systems; SMUD; Southern California Edison; UCLA Medical Center; Union Bank; Universal Electronics; ViaSat; and Walt Disney Imagineering.

Mr. Thorn coaches executives, managers, and specialists on their interpersonal and organizational skills. He assists them in assessing and enhancing their impact on others, helping them turn tensions into positive, productive working relationships. Mr. Thorn facilitates team building, conflict resolution, and large group interventions to develop alignment, and increase trust and commitment to working together successfully. His training provides participants with models and skills for leading, communicating, managing conflicts, and working together more productively. Mr. Thorn has a master's degree in organizational behavior.


Tom Stapleton - Business Writing, Presentation Skills

Tom Stapleton

Tom Stapleton specializes in business writing and presentation training. He has written and edited proposals with management teams at McDonnell Douglas and Northrop Grumman. He has also written a variety of technical and non-technical publications, procedure manuals, and employee handbooks. He is the author of the text, Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills Required: A Guidebook for Career Advancement.

As a communications specialist, Mr. Stapleton has conducted business, technical, and proposal writing workshops and presentations training for Allergan, Amgen, ARCO, Bank of America, Baxter, Ernst and Young, Fox Entertainment, General Atomics, Nestle USA, Pioneer Electronics, Southern California Edison, Texaco, U.S. Department of Energy, The Walt Disney Company, and Yahoo.

Mr. Stapleton regularly publishes articles on communication skills. He received his master's degree in English from the University of Colorado.


Michael D. Sheean - Leadership

Michael D. Sheean specializes in assessing organizational needs and helping to facilitate solutions to pressing organizational issues. He works with a variety of technical and service organizations focusing on leadership, team development, communication, and change management. His clients have included ARCO, AT&T, Brooktree, Canadian Pacific, Computer Sciences Corporation, Northrop Grumman, Rockwell International, Southern California Edison, Tektronix, Terminal Data, Toyota Motor Sales, Tronomed, and Unocal.

Mr. Sheean helps clients initiate and develop management teams, project teams, and innovative problem solving teams as well as build a supportive climate for teams and teamwork. He assists management in developing the strengths and commitment of team members and in moving from autocratic to facilitative leadership practices.

Mr. Sheean was a faculty member of the School of Business Administration and Economics, California State University, Northridge. He holds an MBA from the University of Washington.


Kathleen Terry Manna - Leadership

Kathleen Terry Manna

Kathleen Terry Manna, founder of Participative Management Systems, specializes in helping organizations develop and use teams for achieving bottom-line results. She has extensive skills in team building, facilitation, customer relations, employee participation programs, employee empowerment, and managing diversity in the workplace.

Ms. Terry has worked with Blue Cross, Computer Science Corporation, Hughes Aircraft Company, Mattel Toys, Mitsubishi, Northrop Grumman, Orthopedic Hospital, PacifiCare Health Systems, Southern California Rapid Transit District, Southern California Edison Company, Toro Irrigation Systems, TRW, and Xerox. She has trained professionals in the Philippines, England, Singapore, Belgium, and India.

Ms. Terry graduated with honors from the University of Illinois in psychology and education. She has a certificate in managing in multicultural work environments and has done graduate work in multicultural relations.
