Earned Value Management

The California Institute of Technology Center for Technology and Management Education offers individual two-day courses in three essential competencies required of project managers: project earned value management, managing multiple projects, and project risk management. These courses are offered individually or may be included in a customized certificate program offered at your company.

Project Earned Value Management

Participants will learn the "early warning" signals allowing them to predict additional funding needed to complete the job based on cost and schedule performance against the project plan.

  • Using earned value management (EVM) concepts to plan, schedule, and budget authorized work
  • Organizing the work into time-phased task plans and work packages
  • Tracking work package status to obtain cost and schedule variances
  • Evaluating variances, identifying/resolving problems, and forecasting future performance
  • Recognizing and complying with DoD requirements and compliance for earned value management (aerospace and defense industry only)
