The Aerospace Supply Chain programs from Caltech are uniquely compelling. Program design and delivery are in partnership with the Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM), formerly APICS, and the Orange County Chapter of ASCM. You will experience the rigor of the Certified Practitioner in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) Body of Knowledge delivered by ASCM Master Instructors. These highly qualified educators are aerospace industry operational leaders who held to the exacting standards of ASCM for training.
Two integrated learning modules—Aerospace Supply Chain Foundations and Effective Supply Chain Tactics in the Aerospace Enterprise—enable you to better understand the operations management process and how it relates to the broader operating model. We award you a distinctive Certificate from Caltech when you complete the program.
Upon completion of each module, you will also be eligible to take the corresponding CPIM exam (two total). With the CPIM designation, you will be recognized as having the functional knowledge of production and inventory management, and relevant insights into improving internal operations and increasing customer satisfaction.
Module 1: Aerospace Supply Chain Foundations
In this module, you will understand the basic concepts in managing the flow of materials through the entire chain from the initial supplier to the end-user. We introduce the basic concepts, terminology, and techniques involved in the nuanced operations management processes for both commercial and defense-related aerospace.
Module 2: Effective Supply Chain Tactics in the Aerospace Enterprise
Through this four-part module, you will now dive into the details of strategic resource management, scheduling and planning, operational execution and control, and master planning. You will sharpen your understanding of how the broad scope of available resources throughout the enterprise must align with business and operational strategy to be effective. Orchestration of inventory, capacity, fulfillment, and suppliers is an integral part of the module, and you will build your capabilities to choreograph the movement of materials and information.
