
Joshua Cook has a multi-faceted background – he is an AI and machine learning engineer, a data scientist, a software engineer, and a former educator. He has worked as an AI and ML Engineer at Nashville Biosciences, Edmentum, Hypergiant Industries, and Databricks. He is currently working as CEO at Chelle AI, utilizing his education and AI experience to transform how companies onboard employees.
After graduating UC Berkeley undergrad, he started his career as a high school teacher in underserved communities. He earned his Masters in Educational Leadership from UCLA from the Principle Leadership Institute in the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies where he then acted as lecturer. He then earned a second bachelor’s degree, a BS in Applied Math from Cal State Northridge. While at CSUN, he was the recipient of the National Science Foundation Partnership for Research and Education in Materials grant. After graduating, he worked in software engineering while teaching data science at UCLA and General Assembly. He learned enterprise big data and data science at AI giant Databricks.
An early adopter of AI practices in his work, he moved into AI and machine learning engineering roles in EdTech and health data. His previous career in education informs his AI work -– in understanding how humans learn he can best design and train models. When not working on AI, Joshua plays guitar and piano, sings, and makes electronic music. He also loves spending time with his wife, four-year-old daughter, and chihuahua.
